Obituary for BUCHANAN

William J. Buchanan, 79, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, March 16, 2005. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Milli; sons, William J. Buchanan III and wife, Becky, Steven T. Buchanan, and James M. Buchanan; a daughter, Rebecca J. and husband, Cyrous Sarkhosh; four grandchildren, Wendy and Eric Luhn, Bill Buchanan IV, Natasha and Camron Sarkhosh; and brother, Waller Clements. Bill was a gentle, loving giant of a man who was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He loved fishing and getting together with his buddies to play poker. Bill taught several writing classes at the University of New Mexico and was an accomplished author. A patriot, he served his country for 27 years in the Air Force before pursuing his writing career. Services will be held on Monday, March 21, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 10000 Spain Rd. NE, 87111. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Friends may visit French Mortuary on Sunday, March 20, 2005 from 2-3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Albuquerque Rescue Mission, Inc., 509 2nd St. SW, 87102, or Disabled American Veterans Department of NM, PO Box 3907 Station D, 87190.
