Obituary for DUFFT

Barbara Jane Dufft, 72, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1976 passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2005. Barbara was born December 2, 1932 the daughter of Jacob Shuster and Dorothy Ellen Travis Fichter in Newton, New Jersey. She was raised on a small farm during the depression and the family rented out rooms to make ends meet. Barbara loved all animals, especially horses, so when she was twelve, her parents bought her a horse. Barbara graduated from Berkeley Secretarial School and worked for Picatinny Arsenal for nearly 15 years. She traveled extensively in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe. A blind date introduced her to James H. Dufft who worked for the IRS. They were married in August of 1968 and moved to Morristown, New Jersey. Their daughter Dorellen was born in 1970 and they moved to Denville, NJ shortly thereafter. Tired of the New Jersey rat race they moved to Rio Rancho in 1976. Barbara went back to college, at the College of Santa Fe and graduated with a BA in 1992. She was a Charter member of the Rio Rancho United Methodist Church; member of the Daughters of the American Revolution; Eastern Star, Turquoise Chapter; Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary; and the Daughters of the Nile. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Dufft, Jr. in 1998. She is survived by one daughter, Dorellen Moryosef and husband Shimon of Albuquerque; grandson, Albert Travis Moryosef; granddaughter, Jamie Moryosef; other survivors include nephews and cousins in the New Jersey area. Visitation for Barbara will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2005 from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM with the Service at 2:00 PM at the Rio Rancho United Methodist Church, 1652 Abrazo Rd. NE, Rio Rancho with the Rev. Gregg W. Armstrong officiating. Entombment will follow in the Floral Garden Mausoleum in Vista Verde Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, it has been suggested that contributions be made in Barbara's name to the Rio Rancho, United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 15070, Rio Rancho, NM 87174-5070.
