Obituary for EAMES

Edward Jefferson Eames, 86, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 30 years, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 in Florida. Edward was born May 4, 1918 the son of Edward John and Ethel Eames in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was educated in Terre Haute, Indiana and received his BA and Masters Degree at Indiana State University. He was an Intelligence Analyst for Defense Intelligence Agency in Washington, DC for 24 years. He served in the US Navy, serving on the USS Detroit, and retired from the Navy as a Lt. Commander. Edward was a life member of the American Legion, Post 118 of Rio Rancho; member of the Zia Daylight Masonic Lodge; KCC of the Scottish Rite in Santa Fe; received his Knight York Cross of Honor (KYCH), was a 32-Degree Mason, Commander Court of Honor (KCCH), and was a Mason for over 60 years; Life member of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers. Edward traveled all around the world. He was preceded in death by his son, Edward Jeffrey Eames; four brothers and one sister. Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary D. "Sal" Eames of Rio Rancho; two children, Reda Eames of Panama City Beach, FL, and Susan Payne and husband Al of Springfield, VA; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; and very special friends, Doug and Jane Bergman. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 18, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. Interment will be in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe on Friday, February 18, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Please make contributions in Edward's name to the Alzheimer's Association, New Mexico Chapter, 9500 Montgomery Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111 or to a hospice of one's choice.
