J.F. Manuel Marquez, age 61, a resident of Belen, formerly of Barstow, CA, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2005, after a short illness with his family at his side. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic church. Manuel was employed by BNSF Railway as an Engineer for 28 years. He transferred to the Belen Division in 2001, where he met his wife, Lorraine. He proudly served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne for four years and with the U S Navy for another four years. Manuel loved New Mexico and was looking forward to retiring and exploring the state of New Mexico. He was born in Chupadero, NM, and lived most of his life in California where he enjoyed playing softball, his arts and motor cross racing. Manuel is preceded in death by his parents, Adrian and Perfectita Marquez; his grandparents, Prejeres and Mauricio Sais; his wife, Annie Garcia Marquez of Barstow, CA; brother, Florenio Marquez; and father-in-law Natividad Garcia. He is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine Marquez and his beloved dog, Scott; daughters, Jo-Ann and her husband, Phillip Blanton, Cecilia Sanchez and Jason Grantham, and step children, Kimberly Silva and Lenny Silva; sisters, Gloria and her husband, Allen Hunter, Patty and her husband, Jimmy Brents; brothers, Jerry Marquez, Martin Marquez and his wife Martina; special aunts, Carol Gabaldon and Odie Gonzales and their husbands, Ernie Gabaldon and Salo Gonzales; grandchildren, Kristen, Heather, Steven, Christopher, Alexis, Lorin, Caprice, Carissa, Danielle, Inez and Lil' Lenay (Hito); goddaughter, Andrea Gabaldon, and godson, Marty Marquez and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. All services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church beginning with a viewing at 5:30 p.m. followed by a rosary at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 13, 2005. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 14, 2005. Pallbearers for the services in Belen will be Lenny Silva, Martin Marquez, Matthew Marquez, Billy Chavez, James Martinez and Marvin Gabaldon. Honorary pallbearers will be Salo Gonzales, Ernie Gabaldon, Andrea and Gladys Gabaldon. Services in Barstow, CA will be at Mead Mortuary on Tuesday, February 15, beginning with a viewing from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be at Mt. View Memorial Park on Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Pallbearers in Barstow will be Danny and Marc Hunter, Louie Marquez, James Martinez, Mike Enriquez, Jim Branx, Phillip Blanton, Jason Grantham, Frankie and Mike Saiz, Mike and Mikey Garcia.
