Obituary for BRYANT

Col. Raymond S. Bryant, USA (Ret.), 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1974, died Monday, January 31, 2005. He was a former resident of Belen from 1941 to 1974. He is survived by wife, Carmen A. Bryant; daughters, Virginia Morgan and Jane Thomas; stepsons, Jerry Rice and wife, Cheryl and Gene Rice and wife, Ruth; stepdaughters, Mary Johnson and husband, Bill, and Ruth Saavedra and husband, Joe; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, James Bryant, Frank Bryant, and Eldon Bryant; sisters, Ruth Bradley, Zula Carrell, Ella Bryant, and Betty Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Hessie Bryant; brothers, Dawson Bryant and Joe Bryant. Mr. Bryant worked for AT&SF Railroad for 37 years in the mechanical department at Belen, retiring as car inspector in 1978. He served in the US Army for 34 years being enlisted, commissioned, active duty and reserve status, with service in Europe in WWII, retiring as Colonel in AUS Reserve in 1978. He was Past Master of Bethlehem Lodge #56, AF&AM; Past Patron of Jessamine Chapter #45, O.E.S.; Awarded Rainbow Grand Cross of Colors in 1963; and took Scottish Rite degrees in 1965. Mr. Bryant had paid up life membership in Reserve Officers Association and American Legion Post #49. Member AARP and Transportation Communications Union. Services will be held Friday, February 4, 2005, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Rev. Marvin Capehart officiating. Interment will follow at Terrace Grove Cemetery in Belen, NM. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Thursday, February 3, 2005, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Monterey Baptist Church, 12501 Lomas Blvd. NE, 87112.
