Charles S. Skrabacz Stevens, 87, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, born September 25, 1917 in West Frankfort, IL, died Monday, December 27, 2004 while cruising on The Queen Mary II. Mr. Stevens previously lived in East St. Louis, in California, and in Belleville prior to his move to Albuquerque. Charles proudly served his country as a 2nd Lieutentent in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a member of the Polish National Alliance, Polish Falcons, and the Primetimers. He was a retired real estate investor. He was an avid traveler. He loved to entertain and his family and Friends were very important to him as well as his Polish Heritage. Mr. Stevens was of Catholic faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Katherine (nee Kuca) Skrabacz; a sister, Frances Skrabacz in infancy; brother and sister-in-law, Leo And Doris Skrabacz; sister and brother-in-law, Agnes and Walter Podolski; a sister, Veronica McKim; brothers-in-law, Charles Beyersdorfer, Sr., Paul Dougherty, Joseph Ladny, and Ralph McKim; his former wife, Frances Cygan Skrabacz. Surviving are two sisters, Julia Beyersdorfer formerly of Fairview Heights, now living at Columbia Convalescent Center, Columbia, IL, and Helen Dougherty of St. Louis, MO; his nephews and nieces, Charles (Mary Kay) Beyersdorfer, Jerry (Pat) Beyersdorfer, Richard (Lourdes) McKim, Pat (Don) Fretz, Dale Skrabacz, Kathleen Parrott, Maureen (Bob) Reese, Eileen (Roger) Welker, Colleen Dougherty, Thomas (Peggy) Dougherty, and James Dougherty. He has many great-nephews and -nieces as well as great-great-nephews and -nieces. His close friends were Bob Lister, Bob Smolin, Dale Shelby, and Dennis Swansiger; as well as many other wonderful friends. No Visitation. Cremation was held. Private Services will be at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
