Obituary for DILLON

Valerie Gerard, M.D., 51, a life-long resident of Albuquerque, died suddenly while on vacation on December 17, 2004. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Stephen D. Dillon; daughter, Cariad S. Dillon; mother, Rhian Gerard,; and brothers, Morgan Gerard and his wife, Doris, Robert Gerard and wife, Sharon; and sister-in-law, Susan Patterson and husband, Lin. She was a graduate of Valley High School (1971), the University of New Mexico (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, 1975), and the University of New Mexico Medical School (1980). Following medical school, Valerie completed her residency in anesthesiology at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, TX, and practiced anesthesiology for many years at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque. More than her professional accomplishments, however, Valerie will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family and friends. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Valerie's life will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at the University of New Mexico Alumni Memorial Chapel on the main campus, with a reception at her home afterwards. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Valerie Gerard Dillon Memorial Scholarship Fund for Bosque School, 4000 Learning Rd NW, Albuquerque, 87120.
