Obituary for FLORES-GONZALES

Irma Flores-Gonzales, age 62, an educational consultant and political activist, died Christmas Eve at UNM Hospital, following a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her daughter, Angela Fischman. Ms. Gonzales was a friend to Cesar Chavez and advisor to presidents, and was a leader in fighting for Hispanic rights. Her crowning achievements include co-writing NAFTA and establishing the first bilingual college. She also was associated with the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, Mosaica, The Center for Community Change and the National Council of La Raza. Memorial services will be held Thursday, December 30, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. French Mortuary 1111 University Blvd. NE 843-6333
