Obituary for SMITH

Ira Mozelle. Funeral services for Ira Mozelle Smith, 90, of Roswell will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Pastor Onsy Whicker officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Lawn Cemetery. Mozelle passed away Friday, Dec. 10, 2004. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. till 7:00 p.m. today and from 8:00 a.m. till 12:00 noon on Monday. Mozelle was born on Oct. 25, 1914 to Dr. D.T. Jordan and Lilly Nora Bearded Jordan in Personville, Texas. She and Claude C. Smith were married in Roswell on March 9, 1933 here in Roswell; he preceded her in death. Mozelle was a registered nurse having worked at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center, St. Mary's Hospital, and the New Mexico Rehabilitation Hospital before retiring. She was very active in her church for over fifty-two years, studying her Bible daily without fail. She was an expert at quilting and crocheting. Mozelle would feel her greatest accomplishment would be being a good mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. Mozelle is survived by her daughters, Janice Harrington and her husband, Tom, of Denton, Texas, Betty Whicker and her husband, Onsy, of Roswell, and Joyce Day and her husband, Joe, of Roswell; sons, Charles Smith and his wife, Darla, of Bernalillo, NM and Robert Smith and his wife, Anita, of Everman, TX; eighteen grandchildren; forty-two great grandchildren; eleven great great grandchildren; three sister, Faydel Turney of Hereford, TX, Vera Miller of Abernathy, TX, and Ruby Rosenthal of Yorba Linda, California; two brothers, D. T. Jordan of Copell, Texas and Bobby Jordan of San Antonio, TX; and a host of brothers and sisters in Christ. In addition to her husband, Claude, Mozelle was preceded in death by her parents Dr. D.T. and Lilly Jordan, four brothers, three sisters, one granddaughter, and one great grandson. Pallbearers will be Edwin Smith, Greg Smith, Tino Garza, Byron Saloga, Brad Anglin, and Randy Whicker. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Vista Care Hospice or the Church Mission of your choice. Services are under the direction of: Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home and Crematory.
