Obituary for MARTENS

Elinor M. Martens was born in Springfield, MO and was a resident of Albuquerque since 1940. Elinor was preceded in death by her first husband, William F. Maxey who passed away in 1959, and her second husband, James Martens, who passed away on May 3, 2004. She is survived by her daughter, Sally Fitzgibbon and husband, Joe of Los Alamos; son, William F. Maxey and wife, Ruth of Albuquerque; grandchildren, William F. Maxey, Jr. and wife, Theresa, Jimmy Carruthers and wife, Stephanie of Lewisville, TX, Scott Fitzgibbon of Albuquerque; and great-grandson, Ryan Maxey of Albuquerque. She is also survived by her step-son, James Martens and wife, Lyn of Phoenix, AZ. Elinor was a loving wife and mother. She was an elementary school teacher by profession for 31 years in New Mexico and California and was a college graduate of Southwest Missouri State College. She earned a master's degree in elementary education and was nominated for Teacher of the Year for the state of California in 1975. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held on Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating.
