Obituary for MARTINEZ

Frances. Ms. Frances "Kika" Martinez passed away peacefully on December 4, 2004 after a brief illness. Frances was born in Manzano, New Mexico and lived several years in Santa Fe (retiring after 34 years of loyal and dedicated services to La Fonda) before moving to Albuquerque. She was born on September 10, 1919 to Sylvester and Lupita R. Martinez who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Tiva M. Sandoval and five brothers, Ernesto, Mateo, Ismael, Jose and Demecio. She is survived by one sister, Ursula Cid, of the family home; three nieces, Elena Sandoval, Viola Garcia and husband Armando of Tucson, AZ and Cathy Martinez of Albuquerque; one nephew, Jose Ismael Martinez of Albuquerque; one grand niece, Odilia Ball and husband Charles of Tucson, AZ; two grand nephews, Charles Martinez of Albuquerque and Gabriel Sylvester Garcia of Tucson, AZ. She is also survived by several cousins and friends. Frances was a very strong lady, independent, kind and loving to all. She was a very warm and caring daughter, sister, auntie and friend. She will be remembered for her tremendous and cheerful loving nature. We will all miss her dearly and she will be forever in our hearts. Friends may visit Garcia Mortuary from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. December 10, 2004. Thereafter, a Rosary will be recited by Deacon George Sandoval. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Edmundo Rodriguez, S.J. Pastor, at the Immaculate Conception Church, 619 Copper Ave. N.W. on December 11, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. Lector of the Spiritual Readings will be Mrs. Stella Miera. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jose I. Martinez, Armando Garcia, Eddie Sanchez, Anselmo Bowels, Jose Romero and Richard Fox. Honorary pallbearers will be Flavio and Lupita Romero, George and Sally Romero, Rick and Bernadette Miera and Elsie Marquez and Angie Tafoya.
