Obituary for BENARD

John P. Benard, 77, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on December 7, 2004. He was born in Louisville, KY on April 12, 1927. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He moved with his family to New Mexico in 1960 and worked as a pipeline welder for Transwestern Pipeline Company for 30+ years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Page Benard; his brother, Thomas Page Benard; his sister, Mary (Polly) Smith; his wife of 17 years, Peggy JoAnn Vance Benard; and his second wife of 30 years, Beulah Mae Benard. Surviving to cherish his life is his brother, James Lowell Benard and wife Rocio; his children, Patricia Benard-Lee and husband Steve; Thomas Grant Holcomb; John James Benard and wife Joann; Daniel Lee Holcomb and wife Toni; Julie Benard Cadena and husband Ramon; and Patricia Holcomb. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Vanessa, Janelle, Jordan, Shannon, Jaron, Landon, and Regan. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2004 at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd in Albuquerque, NM from 7 to 9 pm. Services will be at the same location on Friday, December 10, 2004 at 11am. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2pm. Pallbearers will be Steve Lee, Ramon Cadena Jr., Robbie Kinsey, Bob Anderson, and Raymond Getman. Honorary pallbearers will be James Benard, David Plasters, Lloyd Kinsey, and Felix Gallegos.
