John "Shearon" Carroll, 90, a resident of Rio Rancho, died Tuesday, November 30, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ellen Carroll of Rio Rancho; son, Jim Carroll and wife, Edwina of Las Vegas, NV; daughters, Lynda Carroll of San Diego, CA and Sandra Ward and husband, Dan of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Kimberly Hughes and husband, Mike of Post Falls, ID, Chandra Block and husband, Mike of Las Vegas, NV, Brandt and Lang Carroll, both of Fountain Valley, CA, Sean Ward and wife, Natalie and Kendra Ward of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Justin, Kaitlyn, Gavin and Sarah Hughes of Post Falls, ID, Deana and Crystal Block of Las Vegas, NV; also many, many relatives and friends. Shearon was born on June 8, 1914 in Seneca, NM. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He married Ellen Oldham on December 23, 1938 in Clayton, NM. Shearon retired in 1979, after 35 years with Colorado Interstate Gas Company. They moved to Rio Rancho in 1980. He was a beloved Husband, Dad and Poppie. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Carroll; and brothers, Roy and Ross Carroll. Services will be held Saturday, December 4, 2004, at 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, with Dale DeRaad and Diann Newhouse officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be Jim, Brandt and Lang Carroll, Dan and Sean Ward, Mike Block, Justin Hughes and Cody Pittman. The honorary pallbearers are his many, many friends far and near. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, Friday, December 3, 2004, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. French Mortuary 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE 275-3500
