Obituary for ANDERSON

Maryagnes Anderson, beloved mother of four devoted children, completed her life's journey on Sunday, November 21, 2004. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Rio Rancho at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2004, Pastor Si Budagher officiating. Maryagnes was born in Denver, Colorado, but lived most of her life in Espanola, New Mexico. She married Riley Anderson in 1942, and celebrated 58 years of marriage before Riley's death in 2000. Maryagnes was a multi-talented woman. She operated several businesses, including a health spa and music studio. Maryagnes was an accomplished painter in oil and watercolor. She was a benevolent person, giving her time to many organizations that provide service to the community, including the Women's Club and Eastern Star. In 1982 she was honored as Volunteer of the Year in New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents, Conrad Jacob and Agnes Groff Gaarder, and three sisters, Roma Wilie, Ruth Bluck and Golda McGuire. She is survived by two brothers, Bruce Gaarder of Arlington, Virginia and James Rogers and wife, Jo of Bakersfield, California; four children, Michele Atencio and husband, John of Kent, Washington, Marcus Anderson and wife, Shirley of Abilene, Texas, and Colleen Buettell and Chris Anderson, both of Rio Rancho. Grandchildren include Bill Tolleson, Chris Tolleson and wife, Monica, Adam Tolleson and wife, Debbie, April Darroch and husband, Bill, Kevin Atencio and wife, Claudia, and Tiffany Atencio. She also had nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be sent to the scholarship fund of the Espanola Women's Club, P.O.
