Obituary for SANTISTEVAN

Deacon Patrick Cruz, 70, left his family and friends early on Saturday, November 20, 2004 to be with our Lord. He passed away peacefully in his home with his wife, daughter, and granddaughters at his side. Patrick was born February 6, 1934 in Taos, New Mexico. Patrick survived his parents Jose Cruz and Francesquita Santistevan, brother Robert Mossman, sister Terecina Santistevan, and beloved son Ted Leroy Santistevan. Patrick was survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Priscilla Mary Santistevan, his son Robert Santistevan and wife Deborah, his daughter Dolores Santistevan-Lopez and husband James, and his son Vincent Santistevan and wife MaryAnn, his grandchildren; Michelle Salazar, Sarah Salazar, Calvin Santistevan, and Stephanie Dorso, his siblings Julian Duran and wife Ida, Armando Santistevan and wife Irene, Mabel Rich, Alice Sosa and husband Manuel. Deacon Patrick also leaves behind numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and his best friend Sam. Deacon Patrick's career began in 1952 at the Tooele Ordinance Depot. In 1956, he moved to Albuquerque and began his work with the Bureau of Reclamation, as a Surveying Tech. He worked with the Forest Service at the Regional Office where he became Chief of Mapping Surveys and a Professional Cartographer. In 1979, he worked for the Bureau of Land Management where he was in charge of Oil and Gas leases in Oklahoma and Texas. He retired from the Federal Government in 1985. Deacon Patrick was a Cursillista and was assigned by Archbishop Sanchez to Santuario de San Martin Church where he served as a Deacon for 16 years. He was later assigned to St. Edwin's Church in September of 2003 by Archbishop Michael Sheehan where he has been a faithful servant until the present time. Deacon Patrick served as Spiritual Director for the Legion of Mary and was an Assistant Friar for the Knights of Columbus. Deacon Patrick's special ministry was Baptizing children and Chaplain for the Police Department. After retirement, Deacon Patrick worked for Albuquerque Surveying Company and AG Gardner Engineering Company for several years. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, November 22, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at Santuario de San Martin Parish. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at 11 :00am at St. Edwin's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
