Obituary for WAGNER

Ola "Craig" Wagner, 91, a 49 year resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, November 15, 2004. She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Phillips and Elaine Berg of Arkansas; Judith Chase and Janet Saiers of Albuquerque. Also surviving are her sisters, Edith, Mina and Laura of Arkansas. Mrs. Wagner has seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Her special life-long friend is Ruth Lake of Rhode Island. Other special friends are Frieda Rael, Martha Ewing, and neighbor Fran Farina. Her quality of life was good due to loving care from Dr. Diana Noya and her assistants, Charlotte and Pat; Peggy McIntyre; Care Coordinator, Dept. of Senior Affairs; caregivers, Sadie Griego and Patsy Aguilar; and Vermont House caregivers Angela, Cami, Jan, and Carla. She was preceded in death by her retired Air Force husband, Herman "Mike" Wagner in 1978; four brothers; one sister; granddaughter, Diane in 2004; and dear friends, Doris Seibert and Bessie Gay. She loved First Baptist Church and worked some 30 years as a Sunday school secretary. Her Christian faith inspired her joyful attitude toward life "This is the day that the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." She encouraged others by sending cards for all reasons. Reading was a lifelong joy until a 2003 stroke limited her eyesight. "Craig" decorated her home with her favorite color, pink. She loved cardinals, butterflies, rainbows, bright colors. and antiques. Apple dumplings and okra at Furr's Cafeteria were her favorite foods, along with eggrolls at the Mandarin Chinese Restaurant. Raised in rural Arkansas, "Craig" told vivid stories of life without phones, cars or electricity, picking cotton, her Civil War grandfather, and loving school. Services will be held Friday, November 19, 10:30 a.m., at First Baptist Church, 101 Broadway Blvd. NE, with her nephew, Chaplain Bruce Puffer from Phoenix officiating. Donna Moore, who Mother loved, will play the piano. Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
