Obituary for SHEPPERSON

George Edwin Shepperson, 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 10, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Frances; children, Bettyanne Roper and husband, Rev. Gary, Rev. Edwin Shepperson and wife, Barbara, and Sam Shepperson and wife, Barb; grandchildren, Ricky Roper and wife, Sonja, Robbie Roper, Hema Roper, Annie Roper, Sarah Back and husband, Ben, Andrew Shepperson, Katie Shepperson, and Jamie Shepperson. George was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Anne, and Marge, his wife of five years. He was born in Monticello, AR and was raised in Greenville, SC. George attended college at Hampden-Sydney College in VA and graduated from Furman University in SC. He then received his Master's Degree in Education from the University of New Mexico. George taught in APS for 30 years and then at Hope Christian School for 10 years. Throughout his teaching career, he coached tennis and basketball. He and wife Anne helped found Hope Bible Presbyterian Church, which is now Hope Evangelical Free Church in Albuquerque. George was also an active member of Alameda Bible Church, and most recently a member of Grace Church. He and Anne founded and taught the men's and women's Bible classes at The Meadows Senior Community. George was an avid member and soloist of the Young At Heart Choir since 1996. He was a member of the Albuquerque Tennis Club and won tennis championships in The Senior Olympics for both men's doubles and singles, on both the State and National level. "Grandaddy" will be dearly missed by all for his sweet and fun-loving nature, and his wonderful sense of humor.
