Obituary for TORRES

Emily P. Torres, 73, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2004 after battling cancer. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Dominguez and Marilyn D. Torres; son, Ernest Torres and wife, Kathy Torres, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Alicia Lucero and husband, Louis of Albuquerque, Melanie Torres of Nashville, TN, and Cheryl Rene Gurule and husband, Michael of Albuquerque; one great-grandchild, Marisa Lucero; sisters, Mary Chavez, Kella Herrera and husband, Marcus, Sophie Saavedra and husband, Arthur, and Nattie Saavedra and husband, Victor; brother, Felipe Padilla and wife, Onesima; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Max Padilla. Emily was a wonderful and caring Mother, Grandmother, and dear friend to all she met. She loved spending time with her family and friends and was an avid gardener. A special thanks to the Kaseman Presbyterian Hospice Inpatient Unit for their care and support and to the physicians and staff at the NM Oncology Department for their professionalism and care with a special thanks to her physician, Natalie Marshall M.D. Rosary will be recited Friday, October 15, 2004, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, October 16, 2004, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Saavedra, Joey Saavedra, Larry Herrera, Ronald Saavedra, Steve Saavedra, and Tom Martinez.
