Mabel W. Cross, 98, passed away at her home in Truth or Consequences on October 8, 2004. Mabel was born in San Saba, Texas on November 16, 1905, the daughter of John W. and Nancy (Cable) Cooke. Mabel was a previous resident of TorC from 1945-1961, and had lived in Albuquerque and Santa Fe from 1961 until returning to TorC following her husband's retirement in 1976. Mabel was a retired Insurance and Real Estate Bookkeeper. She was a member of the Church of Christ; the American Legion Auxiliary and was a Sierra County RSVP Volunteer. Mabel enjoyed her family & friends, sewing, crafting, bridge, golf & traveling. She was an inspiration to us all and will be deeply missed. She leaves behind her daughter, Nancy J. Palladino of TorC, NM; granddaughter, Nanette and husband, Christopher Caudill of Albuquerque, NM; three great-grandchildren, Cody, Jacob & Brian Caudill; a niece, Berta and husband, Bill DeBraal of Las Cruces, NM; and many additional nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Cross; her parents, John W. & Nancy Lucinda (Cable) Cooke; three sisters, Beulah Bouma, Dave Cliver & Elma Hudson and three brothers, Bill, George & Robert Cooke. Viewing for family and friends will be held in the Chapel of Kirikos Family Funeral Home, on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m. and Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. till 12:30 p.m. Services will be conducted at the 3rd Street Church of Christ at 2:00 p.m. with Mr. A.C. Morris officiating. Private interment will be held in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Kirikos Family Funeral Home, Inc. and Sierra Crematory, LLC. 303 N.
