Obituary for PANOWSKI

John Bruce (Jack) Panowski, 88, died September 14, 2004 in Albuquerque. He was born July 2, 1916, to Joseph E. and Mildred A. (Wagstaff) Panowski in Antioch, IL. In 1941 Jack received his B.E. degree with honors and a major in chemistry from Northern Illinois University. During WWII he worked at the Hoosier Ordinance Plant in Jeffersonville, IN and the B. F. Goodrich Synthetic Rubber Plant in Louisville, KY. In 1943 he married Eileen Thompson. After the war they moved to Los Alamos and Jack worked as a chemist at LASL from 1947 to 1977, at which time he retired and they moved to Albuquerque. Jack was predeceased by his parents; and his three sisters, Gladys Darnaby, Elsie Horton, and Ruth Gaston. He is survived by Eileen, his wife of 61 years; his four children and their families---Tom Panowski and Jeannie Moore, Bruce Panowski and Lyndi Hubbell and grandsons; Siler and Jonah Panowski, Lynn and Norbert Ensslin, and Daryl Lopez and grandchildren, Daniel and Angelina Lopez. A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Chapel of the Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper, NE, Albuquerque on October 16 at 2 p.m. A reception will follow.
