Obituary for SANCHEZ

Mary G. Sanchez, 87, a resident of Bosque Farms, NM passed away on Friday, October 1, 2004. She was born on November 24, 1916 and raised in Belen, NM, was an honor student and graduate at St. Mary's Catholic School. She later graduated from Belen High School. Mary was a devoted Girl Scout leader and in 1955 her family was chosen family of the year by Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. She was a strong supporter of school events with her children including traveling to Washington DC with a high school group and attending out of town basketball games with the team as chaperone. Mary loved to travel. She was a talented designer and hand sewer of quilts. Mary was also an avid weekly bingo player at The Bosque Farms Community Center and volunteered at the VA Medical Center. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jose Modesto Sanchez; her daughter, Tina Peralta; her son-in-law, Alex Peralt;a and her parents, Patrocinio and Aurelia Gurule. Mary is survived by her five daughters, Gloria Stanley and husband, Lee of Bosque Farms, NM; Becky Luna and husband, Albert of Los Lunas, NM; Barbara Sicotte and husband, David of Laguna Niguel, CA; Patricia Fernandez and husband, Richard of Lemitar, NM; and Eileen Sanchez and husband, John Ford of Albuquerque, NM; sister, Margaret Gurule; brother, George Gurule; and sister-in-law, Crucita Gurule; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. All services took place at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church beginning with a viewing on Monday, October 4, 2004 at 6:45 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. with interment following at Our Lady of Belen Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Lee Stanley, Richard Fernandez, David Sicotte, John Ford, Mike Luna, and Steve Peralta. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St. Belen.
