Obituary for GONZALES

Reynaldo "Rey" our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away on October 3, 2004. A life-long New Mexico resident, he was born in Las Vegas on November 22, 1922. He moved to Albuquerque in 1952 where he resided until his passing. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rose; his children, Larry and wife, Kathy, daughter Margaret and husband, Charles Gutierrez, son John, son, Richard and wife, Maria; his grandchildren, Jamie and Lynea Gonzales, Natalie, Charles, and Cassandra Gutierrez, Luz Alondra and husband, Shane Fisher; two sisters, Emma Madrid and Stella Gonzales of Las Vegas, NM; and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. He was a veteran of World War II who served from October 1941 to November 1945 with the United States Air Force in the South Pacific. Rey retired in 1989 from Sandia Labs after 40 years of service. He was a devout parishioner at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church since 1959. Rey was the beloved patriarch, who lovingly placed his wife's, children's and grandchildren's needs, wants, and accomplishments ahead of his own. A viewing will be held at Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2004. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix NE, following the viewing. The funeral service will be held at Queen of Heaven Church on Thursday, October 7, 2004 at 10:00 a.m., with internment at 1:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sam Wasson, Anthony Wasson, Robert Madrid, Charles Gutierrez Jr., Benny Gallegos, and Charlie Gutierrez. Honorary Pallbearers are Eddie Martinez and Arthur Nieto.
