Obituary for LYON

Norman William Lyon, Jr, a resident of Santa Fe, passed away at age 84 on Wednesday, September 29, 2004. He is survived by Emma, his wife of 54 years; daughter, Sarah Lyon; sons, John Lyon and wife, Barbara, and Bradford Lyon; stepsons, Raymond Buffum and wife, Christine, and Richard Buffum and wife, Barbara; grandchildren, Angela Lyon and partner, Michael Miller, and Wesley Lyon Plimpton and wife, Melinda; and great-grandchildren, Sebastian Miller and Michael Miller III. He was preceded in death by his son, Norman (Bill) W Lyon III. Norman was born August 3, 1920 to Thirza and Norman Lyon in Springfield, Massachusetts. He served in the Navy in the Pacific area during World War II. He worked as a machinist at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in Hartford, Connecticut, and went to work for the Los Alamos National Laboratory in 1963. He retired from the labs in 1983. He is a past member of Sons of the American Revolution and the Royal City Ratio Control Club. Cremation was arranged by French Mortuary. A ceremony and interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date.
