Obituary for WAITE

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Friday October 01, 2004

Ruth F. Waite passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, September 24, 2004. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton G. Waite; and is survived by her four children, Penny Meyer, Carolynn Raper, David Waite, and Nancy McDonald. She was also blessed with eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Ruth was born in Vesta, MN on August 5, 1915. She grew up in North Dakota and lived there until, true to her adventuresome spirit, she left for New York City at the age of twenty three where she met Milt and married in 1940. Milt, a member of the Army Air Corp and the following United States Air Force, left for WWII the day Pearl Harbor was bombed. Ruth and her first child returned to North Dakota and waited for her husband's return from WWII in 1945. She was a loving mother and supportive military wife. When the family was transferred to Cannon Air Force base in Clovis, NM, they fell in love with the southwest, and they retired there. Ruth enjoyed rock and Indian artifact hunting, collecting antiques, and family gatherings. Ruth's last few years were spent at Carestone in Albuquerque where she enjoyed the many activities. Special thanks go to all the caregivers at Carestone and VistaCare Hospice for their loving compassionate care. Cremation has taken place. A private remembrance of life ceremony was held followed by interment at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
