Mary Carter, 77, a resident of Albuquerque since 1979, passed away Friday, September 24, 2004. She is survived by her husband, Ernest L. Carter of Albuquerque; daughter, Connie Butcher of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Sandra Hathaway of Church Hill, TN and Christine Butcher of Colorado Springs, CO; great-granddaughter, Samantha Hathaway of Church Hill, TN; brother, Tommy Gibson and wife, Joyce; sisters, Ruby Jenkins and Edith Gibson all of Roanoke Rapids, NC; and sisters-in-law, Elsie Gibson of Bunnell, FL and Cookie Gibson of Chesapeake, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James and John. Mary was born in Roanoke Rapids, NC on February 26, 1927. She and Ernest married on May 14, 1947 in Brewton, AL. They resided in Roswell, NM for 12 years, Morocco, Rapid City, SD and Grand Forks, ND before moving to Albuquerque in 1979. She retired from AT&T/ US West in 1985 after serving 23 years. Services will be held Tuesday, September 28, 2004, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. N.E, with Dr. Clark Henderson officiating. Interment will take place in Fort Bragg, NC. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Monday, September 27, 2004, from 6 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 8100 Mountain Rd.
