Joyce Aileen Hodgin, 64, of Willard, NM, passed away September 21, 2004, at her home. She was born to Max and Lorena (Porter) Evans on August 9, 1940, in Corona, NM. Joyce worked for the Department of Agriculture's Farm Service Agency in Estancia, NM. Joyce was Secretary/Treasurer of the Torrance County Farm and Livestock Bureau. She was a 40 year member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha International Sorority, served as State President in 1978-1979, and held numerous charter and state offices. She was also on the State Board of the New Mexico Special Olympics, Cystic Fibrosis, and supported St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Charles David Hodgin; and three daughters, Sandy and her husband, Robert Davenport of Las Cruces, NM, Cathy and her husband, Darrell Melcher of Ashburn, VA, and Kristy and her husband, Robert Chavarria of Mansfield, TX; her mother, Lorena Mariner; one sister, Athol Miller; and one brother, Robert Evans, all of Las Cruces, NM; four grandchildren, Evan and Jessica Woodard, and Cameron and Lorena Melcher; and four step-grandchildren, Jeremy and Brian Davenport, and Josh and Jordan Melcher. Joyce will be remembered as a very loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Estancia, NM, on September 25, 2004-10:00 a.m., with Pastor Eric Turner officiating. Pallbearers will be Robert Davenport, Darrell Melcher, Robert Chavarria, Cameron Melcher, Evan Woodard, Brian Davenport, and Jeremy Davenport. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Chavez, Lynn Chilton, Jimmy Chavez, Sonny Sefton, Brian Greene, Wallace Busbee, and Robert Evans. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Mexico Farm and Livestock Bureau Young Farmer's and Rancher's program. P.O. Box 20004, Las Cruces, NM 88004.
