Obituary for NOWAK

Quintin T. Nowak, 85, of Jensen Beach, died September 8, 2004 at Martin Memorial Hospital North after an extended illness. Quintin was born in Brooklyn, NY and subsequently moved to Seaford, Long Island. He enlised in the US Navy in 1937 where he served on several vessels including the USS Brooklyn and Intrepid. Upon his retirement from the Navy as a Chief Boatswain's Mate in 1956, Quin joined the Merchant Marines. When his service came to an end, he worked with his brother, Edward at the family business in Lincoln Park, NJ. They both retired in the late 1980's and migrated to Florida. Quin spent his last fifteen years sharing stories of military life with the Jensen Beach crowd while baskin in the Florida sun. He will be greatly missed by everyone, including his niece and nephew-in-law, Louise and Carl Neineck of Hobe Sound, Florida. His sister, Louise Nelson of Rio Grande, New Mexico and his sister-in-law, Catherine Nowas as well as many other nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service wil be held on November 11, 2004 at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, Jensen Beach, at 11:00 a.m. Quin will be buried at sea with family and friends by his side. Arangements are under the direction of Young & Prill Funeral Home, Stuart.
