Obituary for JOHNSON

Cheryl Dee Johnson, 55, passed away on Monday, Septemer 13, 2004 after a brief illness. Cheryl was born in Britton, SD on February 9, 1949 and has lived in New Mexico for the past eighteen years. Cheryl was a Director of Student Services at Albuquerque TVI for the past ten years. She worked previously at the University of New Mexico - Valencia Campus as a Senior Academic Advisor and head of testing. Cheryl enjoyed working with students in her post-secondary work. She was also an accomplished licensed Professional Counselor who was passionate about assisting others in realizing their goals. Cheryl is remembered for her zest for life and her love of music and dancing. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden, attending UNM football games, and especially the UNM Women's basketball games. Cheryl was loved and respected by all who came in contact with her. She will be sorely missed. Cheryl was preceded in death by her father, Marion Johnson. She is survived by her husband of ten years, Raymond H. Rondeau; her mother, Shirley Johnson of Britton, SD; sister, Lynne Haugstad and husband, Doug of Sioux Falls, SD; brothers, Lonnie Johnson and wife, Leone of Golden Valley, MN, and Reed Johnson and wife, Marie of Safford, AZ; brothers-in-law, Norm Rondeau and wife, Theresa, Tom Rondeau and wife, Connie, of Albuquerque, Wilfred Rondeau and wife, Doris Jean of Huntington Beach, CA, and Edgar Rondeau of Sherwood, OR; sisters-in-law, Pauline Shepherd of Albuquerque and Jeanne Kabat of Viroqua, WI; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; and many dear friends. The Visitation for Cheryl will be held on Friday, September 17, 2004 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. The Service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary with Rev. Susan Thornton officiating. Interment will follow in Vista Verde Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Lonnie Johnson, Reed Johnson, Tom Rondeau, Glenn Rondeau, Esther Shir, and Nahid Movaghar. It has been suggested that memorial contributions be made in Cheryl's name to the Barrett Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 25823, Albuquerque, NM 87125 or the charity of one's choice.
