Obituary for MOLLO

Mary Ann Mollo, 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1983, died Tuesday September 7, 2004. Mary was born in New Jersey on June 14, 1917. She was the daughter of Rose and Constantino Traina. Mary was a woman of great determination during her life. She graduated in 1939 from St. John's University with a degree in Pharmacy at a time when it was uncommon for women to earn higher education degrees. It was here that she met her beloved husband, Charles Mollo, also deceased. While raising children, Mary changed careers and became an elementary school teacher. For twenty years, she taught science and math at St. Mary, Mother of Jesus School in Brooklyn, NY. Mary was actively involved throughout her life in the St. John's University Alumni Association. After relocating to Albuquerque, she became a member of the Golden Ages and the Welcome Wagon. She was also an altar volunteer at the La Vida Llena Retirement Community where she lived. She was known for her love of life and people. Mary is survived by her daughter, Geraldine Mollo of Paris, France; her daughter, Deanna Adams and husband, Thomas of Livingston, NJ; son, Charles Mollo and wife, Janice of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Kathy Groves-Wright, Christine Mollo, Kerry Johnson, and Charles Mollo III; and great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Johnson. A memorial gathering for Mary will be held on Friday evening, September 10, from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. at La Vida Llena, 10501 Lagrima De Oro, NE,. Albuquerque, NM 87111. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.
