Mabel G. Schoen, 88, passed away Tuesday evening, September 7, 2004 at a local hospital. Mabel was born August 9, 1916 in Schleswig, IA to Claus and Catherine Gottburg. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a B. S. in Nursing in 1940 and was an R.N. from the state of Iowa. Mabel married John W. Schoen on November 16, 1940 in St. Joseph, MO. She moved to Albuquerque with her husband and son in 1957 and was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her four siblings. She is survived by her son, John E. Schoen and wife, Patricia of McGregor, TX; and her grandchildren, Laura Schoen of McGregor and John W. Schoen of Austin, TX; two nieces; and a nephew. The family sincerely appreciates the care of the staff at La Vida Llena and Lovelace Medical Center and the many kindnesses and friendship of Ron Sartain and Tom Knutila. A Memorial Service will be held at La Vida Llena at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity or educational institution.
