Mary Chavez Lucero. On September 1, 2004, Mary C. Lucero, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family after a brief and brave battle with lung cancer. Mary was born November 29, 1922. She graduated from Albuquerque High School, class of 1940. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Veneranda Chavez; brothers, Anthony and Victor Chavez; and son, Paul A. Lucero. Mary is survived by her sisters, Susie C. Sena, Virginia Chavez; and brother, Ambrose V. Chavez. She is also survived by her husband of 56 years, Thomas J. Lucero; and children: Robert T. Lucero, Ramona M. Lucero and husband, Mike Thompson, Andrew Chavez Lucero and wife, Sian Hughes, J. Ambrose Lucero, Larry M. Lucero and wife, Jan Lucero, Frances A. Lucero, Mary Ann Lucero and partner, Gloria Baca, and Michael J. Lucero and wife, Margo Lucero; her grandchildren, Leeane M. Henry, Bryan R. Lucero, Paul T. Lucero, Marc A. Lucero, Damon A. Lucero, Jonathan M. Lucero, Jason A. Lucero, Nathan E. Lucero, Stuart J. Goodwin-Lucero, April A. Kitcho-Lucero, Kennan A. Kitcho-Lucero, Joshua I. Lucero, Jillian N. Lucero, Alexandra M. Lucero, and Rhys Chavez Hughes-Lucero; great-grandchildren, Lauren T. Henry, Jordyn L. Henry, Olivia B. Henry, Brian M. Lucero, Adyn B. Lucero, Trysten J. Lucero; and a great-grand baby due in October. The compassionate outpouring of love by so many people reflects the beautiful and powerful impact Mom had on us all. The immense void that her passing leaves in all of our lives can only be filled by us carrying on her legacy of love, kindness, forgiveness, tolerance, and immeasurable faith in Jesus Christ. She will be forever missed but remembered by each of us daily and carried in our hearts forever. The Rosary will be held on Monday, September 6, 2004, at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Church (811 Guaymas Pl. NE, Lomas and Tennessee NE.). Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption followed by burial ceremony at Mount Calvary Cemetery (1900 Edith Blvd. NE). Friends and loved ones are welcome to attend the celebration of Mary's life immediately following the ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to either the American Lung Association, 7001 Menaul NE.
