Elena (Lucero) Gallegos, age 93, beloved sister and aunt, was called home by our Heavenly Father on Sunday, August 15, 2004. Elena was born in Corrales, NM to the late Jesus Maria Lucero and Dulecinea Sanchez; she was a resident of Bernalillo, NM. She was a member of the Catholic Church. She helped organize the Catholic Daughters Chapter of The Court of Immaculate Conception in Bernalillo, where she served as Grand Regent and Organist. She was a School Teacher for 40 years for the Sandoval County School Systems. Elena gave of her time and talent to the church as the organist since she was 13 years old, up until 1986, in Bernalillo and surrounding areas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Epimenio Gallegos; brothers, Jose, Eloy, and Robert; sisters, Sorida, and Clotilde. Elena is survived by her loving sisters, Erlinda Gutierrez and Sofia Lucero; and a niece, Aline, all of the family home; a sister-in-law, Margaret Lucero. Also surviving are several beloved nieces, nephews; grand-nieces and -nephews; and great-nieces and -nephews. Elena will be greatly missed by her loving family. Visitations will be Wednesday, August 18, 2004 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A rosary will be recited Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00 a.m. also at the church. Interment will follow at the Corrales Cemetery.
