EDMUNDO, Mr. Edmundo (Ed) Aguirre, U.S.A.F. retired, 70, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on August 2, 2004. Mr. Aguirre is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Rose; four children, Terry A. Vargas and husband, Lawrence, Martha A. Montoya and husband, Louie, Edmund Aguirre Jr. and wife, Fita E., Ruben Aguirre and wife, Theresa; three sisters, Otilia Olivas, Isela Ortega and husband, Julian, Romelia Gomez; four brothers, Hector Aguirre and wife, Lillie, Francisco (Paco) Aguirre and wife, Sophia (Guera), Rogelio Aguirre and wife, Della, Sergio Aguirre and wife, Alicia; 11 grandchildren, Lawrence Charles, Anthony, Andrew, Eddie, Ashley, David, VIncent, Christopher, Ruben, Nicolas and Elise; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Aguirre was a member of the Catholic Church, a Veteran of the U.S.A.F. serving during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era and past Commander of Post 6216. Ed loved his family, his country, music, was an accomplished athlete, was a New Mexico Golden Gloves Champion, played baseball and held numerous track records. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church, 5901 St. Joseph Place NW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Terry Vargas. Final visitation will be Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Father Frank Prieto, presider. Interment will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery with full Military Honors by Kirtland Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Edmund Aguirre Jr., Ruben Aguirre, Lawrence Vargas, Louie Montoya, Lawrence Charles Vargas and Angel Alvarado. Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers.
