David Norlyn Rhutasel died on Sunday, August 1, 2004. He was born in Hampton, Iowa. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Rhutasel; his mother, Valera Rhutasel; sons, Stephen and his wife, Amy, and Darren Rhutasel; sisters, Diana Holbrook and Darla Church; brothers-in-law, Tom Church and Tom Sharp; and grandchildren, Mariah and Quentin Rhutasel. Mariah's ballet and choreography delighted him and he eagerly anticipated Quentin's baseball games. He loved Amy for her unfailing love and wisdom as the mother of his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Misty Davette. David attended the University of Texas at El Paso to study mechanical engineering. He helped to build CAC, an HVAC Service company. In 1998, he began his second career as an instructor at TVI. Teaching gave him great pleasure, and he planned to continue his new profession until well past the traditional time for retirement. A licensed pilot, David loved to fly, build model airplanes and play golf. He and his son Darren rode motorcycles together, each of them winning a collection of trophies in motorcross races. David was a member of the Lobo Club, and he and his son Stephen rarely missed a football game. He golfed with his friends Nick Walthall and Ed Caulder.
