Amelia Elisa Maestas, age 93, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2004 in Albuquerque, NM. Amelia was born September 16, 1910 in New Mexico to Fidel and Cleofitas Madrid Gallegos. Amelia was a very warm, loving and giving person who loved life and her family around her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Juan P. Maestas; one son, Paul Maestas; two grandsons, Tim Torres and Stan Torres. She is survived by four daughters, Alice Torres and husband, Gilbert, Angie Gallegos and husband, Eddie, Anna Marie Hinkley and husband, Leonard, Marie Lupita Gutierrez and husband, Nestor, all of Albuquerque; one son, Nazario Maestas and wife, Vivian of Albuquerque; three sisters, Portana Baca, Adela Sisneros, Cleo Luna; two brothers, Fidel Gallegos and Ted Gallegos; sixteen grandchildren, Gilbert Torres Jr., Greg Torres, Melissa Maestas, Lawrence Maestas, Belinda Maestas, Dennis Gutierrez, Denise Valencia, Nathan Gutierrez, Ron Gallegos, Peggy Luna, Donna Chaves, Ches Lovato, Pam Ramos, Jonathan Marcum, Paul Maestas, Brian Maestas; twenty great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Suzie Salazar that she loved like a sister. A rosary will be recited Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Therese Little Flower Church, 300 Mildred Ave. NW, Albuquerque, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Therese Little Flower Church with Father Palmo Valente celebrant. Interment will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. in Santa Fe, NM. Pallbearers are Ron Gallegos, Ches Lovato, Dennis Gutierrez, Nathan Gutierrez, Jonathan Marcum, Tim Maestas, David Chavez, and Marty Luna. Honorary Pallbearers are Gilbert Torres Jr, Lawrence Maestas, Greg Torres, Paul Maestas, Brian Maestas, Jeff Valencia, and Andy Ramos. Arrangements are under the direction of: Strong-Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Ave SE 842-8800
