Obituary for STEVENS

Katharyn D. Stevens, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on July 21, 2004. Katharyn was born on September 16, 1908 in College Point, NY. Katharyn earned her BS from Skidmore College, her MA from Columbia University, attended Syracuse Penland School of Design, Montclair State University, and Newark State University. She was a Supervisor of Art Education in Clifton, NJ for over 36 years. Katharyn was a lifetime member of the New Jersey Art Education Association and Who's Who in Education and was proud to have studied with the national artist, George Elmer Brown. She was very active in many associations including, Girl Scouts of America, YWCA, DAR, Civitan International, NM Watercolor Society, and the Republican Club. She was also a very devout member of First Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque, serving as Deacon and active in the church choir. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Katharyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leroy; and her brother, Hugh Dangremond. She is survived by her sister, Doris H. Mossige (Randolph); nephews, Robert Dangremond (Denise), Bruce Dangremond (Margarite); niece, Mary K. Dangremond; great-niece and great-nephew, Eric and Kristin Dangremond; and a host of friends and loved ones. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 30, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE in Albuquerque with the Rev. Carl Soderberg as officiant.
