Billy Joe Lewis, age 78, a resident of Albuquerque for 43 years, died on Monday, June 28, 2004. He was born on October 24, 1925, in Ashland, Kentucky to George W. Lewis and Susie Lake. Survivors include two daughters, Tammy Rogers and her husband, Craig, and Laura Dunahoo, all of Albuquerque; three sons, Michael R. Lewis and his wife, Gloria J., of New York, Edward A. Lewis and his wife, Bobbye J., of Rio Rancho, and William E. Galloway and his wife, Sue, of Arizona; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife Ruby, and second wife Jean. Mr. Lewis retired from TWA in 1986 after 33 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #99. A Service will be held on Friday, July 2, 2004 at 1:00 p.m., in Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary, with Reverend Mark Stefanov officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale SE. Pallbearers will be Edward Lewis, Edward Lewis Jr., Craig Rogers, and Michael Lewis. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 7000 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
