Obituary for PLETT

Mr. Leroy (Lee) Plett went to be with his Lord on Thursday, June 24, 2004. Leroy was born in Turpin, Oklahoma on March 22, 1927, the son of Johnny and Marie Plett. He married Betty Ray on August 21, 1948. He graduated in 1949 from Oklahoma State University with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering and went on to receive his M.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of New Mexico in 1964. Since 1955, Leroy worked as a Civil engineer for the Bureau of Reclamation and the US Army Corp of Engineers. Since retiring in 1982 he had become active in his community and his church, St. John's United Methodist Church, where they were members since 1955. His parents, wife Betty, son Mark, and brother Don preceded Leroy in death. He is survived by his son, Michael Plett and wife, Beverly of Chicago, IL, daughter-in-law, Miriam Plett of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Charlene (Plett) Hale and husband, Keith of Omaha, NE, Marie Plett and husband, Jason Korose of Miami, FL, Matthew Plett of Columbus, OH, Rachel and Joshua Plett of Albuquerque; three great-granddaughters; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was a loving father and grandfather. He will be missed very much by those who loved him. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 26th at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona St. NE. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at 10:00 a.m., at the Turpin Mennonite Cemetery, Turpin, Oklahoma. Friends may visit French Mortuary, University Blvd Chapel on Friday, June 25, 2004 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 7001 Menaul Blvd.NE, Suite 1-A, 87110.
