Obituary for MITCHELL

Dorothy L. Mitchell was born and grew up in Clayton, NM on a homestead, graduating from Clayton High School. Her peaceful passing on Wednesday, June 23, 2004 , was the 48th anniversary of her marriage to T. "Jerry" Mitchell. They took up residence in Bombay, India, returning in 1960 to Albuquerque, with moves to Shiprock and Gallup. She worked for Sandia Base in the early 1950s and beginning in 1961 went to work for the Social Security Administration, and worked there until her retirement. Their early retirement years were enjoyed at Cochiti Lake. Albuquerque again became home in 1999. Dorothy and Jerry enjoyed many wonderful trips and they collected many memories and great friends. She was a gracious hostess and enjoyed sharing her time and home. She is survived by her husband Jerry Mitchell; two children, daughter, Jerre Dee and husband, John Fitzpatrick; son, Ron Mitchell and wife, Sheri; five grandchildren, Chandra, Vanessa, Tom, Jacob and Evan; four great-grandchildren, Michael, Chelsea, Jenna and TJ; sister, Bea Bartlett; brother, John Henry Bartlett; and other nieces and nephews. Friends may visit French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, Saturday, June 26, 2004 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Private family entombment will follow at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Central United Methodist Church, 1516 Copper NE, 87102.
