Vera Santa Pelaccio Hinds, 85, was born Sunday, October 27, 1918 in Dawson, NM to Tony and Annie Pelaccio. She is survived by 2 children, son, Bill Hinds of Albuquerque and daughter, Betty Powell of Scottsdale, AZ; 5 grandchildren, Patrick Hinds of San Francisco, CA, Sheli Armstrong of Santa Fe, NM, Scott Grosso of Albuquerque, NM, Michele Powell of Tulsa, OK and David Powell of Ft. Collins, CO. Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Hinds, her parents, Tony and Annie Pelaccio and brothers, Willy Pelaccio and Albert Pelaccio. She resided with her husband, Fred, in Santa Fe for 32 years. Upon retirement, they lived in their hometown of Raton, NM for 12 years. Vera later lived at the Alzheimer's home at Sunrise Assisted Living in the St. Francis Bldg. in Albuquerque, NM. The disease of Alzheimer's takes on many different characteristics that play out differently in each individual. Vera maintained a presence of dignity and strength as she battled this horrible disease. Her nature became a very gentle sprit, filled with peace and full of grace. She was loved and comforted by the wonderful staff and caregivers at Sunrise. Vera is deeply loved by her family and will be greatly missed. Mass will be celebrated Friday, June 25, 2004, 12 o'clock noon, at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5310 Claremont Ave. NE, with Father Johnny Chavez, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. French Mortuary 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE 823-9400
