Obituary for MORELAND

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday June 20, 2004

Lorenze "Ronnie" Moreland, June 17, 1957 - June 17, 2004. Our beloved husband, son, father, brother, soldier and friend went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 17, 2004. He celebrated his 47th birthday with all of us and with the Lord. He is survived by his wife, Verna Moreland of Albuquerque; son, Michael Moreland of Seattle, WA; daughter, Jennifer Moreland of Edgewood and their mother, Felicia; parents, Lorenzo and Ufelia Moreland of Albuquerque; sister, Dori Davis; and brothers, Mark, Jeff and wife, Barbara, and Darryl and wife, Linda all of Albuquerque. Ronnie was very active in the Army National Guard and loved spending time with his fellow soldiers. He enjoyed refereeing basketball games for YMCA children and games for Kirtland Air Force Base employees. Ronnie was an avid Lobo fan. He rarely missed a football or basketball game. He always cheered for the Minnesota and Seattle pro teams because of his wife and son. As a brother, Ronnie was there for us to make us laugh, to lend a shoulder when we were down or to help us out. He had a nickname for all of his brothers, his sister, his children and even his wife, (KIDDIE). His parent's to him were Femia and Tige, and his son was Mel and his daughter was Stewie. Ronnie's Mom and Dad were very dear to his heart. He would call his Mom almost every day to check on her and just to talk. Ronnie was the oldest son and was always helping them in any way he could. We will never forget your smile or the way you made us laugh. Thank you, Ronnie! Your Mom and Dad and your brothers and sister will carry you in their hearts forever. We will not say goodbye to you because we know we will see you again. His greatest love was his wife, Verna and his two children Michael and Jennifer. As a father he was always involved with their activities and was very proud of them. The values that he taught them through sports will never be forgotten. He loved his children so very much, they brought him great joy. His wife, Verna, who is also active in the Army National Guard, was the light of his life. Their love for each other was obvious by the way they lived their lives. Services will be held on Monday, June 21, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix Ave, NE. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. with full military honors.
