Obituary for BREEDEN

Nancy Lankford. Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Wednesday, June 30, 2004, at First Baptist Church Roswell for Nancy E. Breeden, 64, of Roswell, who passed away June 16, 2004 in Houston, Texas. Her former Pastor, Norm Boshoff of San Diego, California and Jerry Luck, a 1958 graduate and classmate of Nancy, and Minister of Music of Bethel Baptist Church of Roswell, will conduct the service. Lunch for relatives and out of town visitors and friends will be served at noon at First Baptist Church. Nancy Edalena Lankford was born in Hagerman, NM on May 3, 1940 to Everett and Opal Lankford. A long time resident of Roswell, having moved to Roswell when she was two years old, she attended Roswell public schools, graduating from Roswell High in 1958. She attended Roswell Business College. Growing up, she participated in musicals, chorus, a trio at Roswell High, chorus and choir of First Baptist Church, and youth programs in the church and was very active in the Memorial Youth Center under the direction of Margaret Ford, the Youth Director. She had been secretary of numerous businesses, was Administrative Assistant for the Senior Pastor of Hoffmantown Baptist Church in Albuquerque for 20 years, and served as the Partners in Education of Roswell Independent School District under the administrations of Dr. W. Dotts and Dr. A Fresquez. She was the secretary for Gregg Spradling, and Mike Kakuska at Roswell High School and was the Executive Assistant to Roswell Independent School District Superintendent, Dr. Manny Rodriquez during her last years. She was always concerned for the betterment of the community, she loved the people she worked with and served, and her love extended to all ages, the youngest to the elderly. Nancy will be missed by her relatives, friends and professional colleagues. Nancy married Paul H. Breeden who had been stationed at Walker Air Force Base, December 27, 1958. She worked helping Paul complete his college education. Her husband passed away January 17, 1983. Along with her parents, Everett and Opal Lankford of Roswell, who survive her, she is survived by two sons; Michael R. Breeden and his wife Nanette, of Denver, CO, and Richard T. Breeden and his wife Tami of Seattle, WA; three grandsons, Spencer, Ben and Jack; two granddaughters, Bailey and Rebecca of Seattle; her sister: Barbara "Bubbles" Carlson and her husband, Stan of Alto, New Mexico; and her brother: John Lankford and his wife, Jan of Roswell. Also surviving are nephews and nieces, Sean Lankford of San Francisco, CA, Shannon Lankford and wife, Ann of Bangkok, Thailand; Meredith Lankford of Phoenix, AZ, Colette Whitlock and husband Lee, Chris Carlson and wife, Amy of Houston, TX; four aunts; Florene M. Patterson and husband Elmer of Roswell, Velma Lankford of Norman, Oklahoma, Tempa House of Broaddus, TX, and Juil Lee Read of San Clementa, CA, and numerous cousins. Friends may make memorials to Nancy Lankford Breeden Scholarship Fund, Students pursuing Secretarial Careers, E.N.M.U. Roswell Foundation, P. O. Box 3017, Roswell, New Mexico 88202-3017.
