Obituary for BROOME

James E. (Jim) Broome, age 91 and a resident of Albuquerque for seven years died at his home Thursday May 27, 2004 following an illness. Mr. Broome is survived by three sons: James E. Broome Jr. and his wife Jamie of Louisville, KY, Paul E. Broome and his wife Miquelita of Albuquerque, and Kevin G. Broome and his wife Sharon of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren: Michael, Mary Catherine, James (Chip) III, Jacquie and husband, Carlos, Bill, Matt and wife, Lisa and Meese; five great grandchildren: John, Caroline, Nathan, Alex, and Michael; and his care-givers Michael and Sara Martinez. Jim was a member of Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church, the Knights of St. John, and Knights of Columbus. He was one of the original 'Father Baker Boys' at Our Lady of Victory Boys Home in Lakawanna, NY. He was a pioneer in the Credit Union movement in New York State and served as president of the New York Credit Union League. Viewing and visitation will be held Sunday May 30, 2004 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle Blvd. NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday May 31, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. in Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church, 8901 Candelaria Rd. NE with Fr. Albert Podvin celebrant. The family would like to offer a special thank-you to the staff at Odyssey Healthcare, and Albuquerque Kidney Center for their special and loving care.
