Obituary for DOWNEY

Inez Downey, 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1959, died Saturday, May 22, 2004. She was born in Wise County, Texas in 1917. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Lacresha Matthews of Bloomfield, NM and Jean Gray and husband, Frank of Midland, TX; son, Johnny Max Downey and Joy of Capitan, NM; granddaughters, Connie Straughn, Robin Schumacher, Cheri Miller and Jennifer Richardson; grandson, Johnny Gray; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Lela Floy Seago of Houston, TX; brother, Robert Foster of Midwest City, OK; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one great-grandson. She was a loving mother and devoted Christian. A member of Hoffmantown Baptist Church, she participated in many bible studies and loved her church. Mrs. Downey was a charter member of the Young at Heart Choir and loved to travel with the choir in their ministries. Mrs. Downey enjoyed her sewing, crocheting, wood working and gardening. She retired from La Mars Bridal Shop as a seamstress after 28 years. She was a member of the Desert Rose Chapter of Eastern Star. Services will be held Friday, May 28, 2004, 2:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd., with Pastor Freeman Tomlin officiating. Interment at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. N.E.
