James T. Stavros, age 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1956, died on Tuesday, May 11, 2004. James was a member of D.A.V. Post 3, and V.F.W. 401. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard in WWII, and retired from the United States Postal Office. Survivors include his daughter, Diana T. Stavros, of Edgewood; two sons, Tom J. Stavros and wife Mary Jo of Albuquerque, and Steve P. Stavros, of Florida; sister, Nora Poulos, of Albuquerque; five grandchildren, Jason, Maxx, William, Joshua, and Thomas. He is preceded in death by his wife Theresa in 2000. A Visitation will be held on Friday, May 14, 2004 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary, Trisagion will follow at 7:00 p.m. in Palm Chapel. A Service will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2004, 11:00 am at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church, 308 High SE, with Fr. Mario Giannopoulos officiant. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park.
