Obituary for BROCK

Harold E. Brock, 74, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2004 at his home in Espanola. He was born on February 4, 1930 in Stafford, Kansas to the late Bryan and Hazel Brock. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Steven Lewis Brock; his parents and his brothers, Lou and Bryan Brock. He attended the University of New Mexico on a football scholarship and graduated in 1952. He was a national champion debater and won many awards for UNM. He was proud to be a Lobo and was a season ticket holder. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Harold was in the car business for over 40 years. In 1969 he opened Harold Brock Chevrolet in Espanola. He sold the dealership in 1982 and was the Fleet Manager for Rio Valley Ford. Harold was very active in the Espanola community as past McCurdy School Board President and Booster, a member of the Kiwanis Club, the Espanola Chamber of Commerce who named him "Man of the Year", and a strong supporter of the 4-H program. He was an accomplished orator and extemporaneous speaker, often being asked to be the Master of Ceremonies at many of our local events. In addition, Harold was a "Grill Master Extraordinaire", an aircraft pilot, an avid boater and water skier, and deep-sea fisherman. He and his wife Joan of 52 years were fortunate to have explored the world on cruise ships. He is survived by his wife, Joan Brock of Espanola; daughters, Janis Brock of Rio Rancho and Sharon Redman and husband David; son, Bryan Brock and fiance all from the Espanola Valley; grandchildren, Stephanie, Melissa and Kevin Redman, Allison, Ashley and Adam Romero; great-granddaughter, Ayana; sister, Marjorie Ingmire of Indiana; brother, Rex Brock of Florida, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial to follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Bryan Brock, David Wolf, David Redman, Adam Romero, Kevin Redman and Rex Brock. Honorary pallbearers named are, Stuart Buckingham, C.L. Hunter, Al Salazar, Ray Wolf, Joe Shinn, Ron Mauro, Gene Finch, Rick Trujillo, Duane "Pinky" Lang and Richard Cook. The family of Harold E.
