Obituary for WARREN

Mary Catherine Thomas Warren, 83 years old and a long time resident of Los Alamos, New Mexico died April 29, 2004 in Albuquerque after a long illness. Born October 11, 1920 to John & Mary Frances King, she was raised in Sterling, Illinois, and married Richard Glen "Tommy" Thomas in 1942. They moved to Los Alamos in 1955 when he began working in H Division and she continued raising their three children. Widowed in 1962, Mary Catherine began working at LANL in the Physics Division until retirement in 1981. She married Martin "Marty" Warren in 1966. Marty proceeded her in death in 1988. Mary Catherine was very active in the community. She was a long time board member of the local organization of the March of Dimes. She was active with the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and received many service awards for her work with the LAMC Hospital Auxiliary. Mary Catherine also helped out at the annual blood drive and was a Eucharistic Minister at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Famous for her popcorn and fudge, she was an excellent seamstress, smocker and crafter, who even made her own hats. She was an avid bridge player and loved swimming and traveling the world. She is survived by her three children; Mary Kay Wedum, Jim Thomas and Peggy DeGrazio and four grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. her friends and family will miss her delightful sense of humor and her straight shooting approach to life. Recitation of the Rosary for repose of the Soul of Mary Catherine Warren is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 3, 2004 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Mass of the Resurrection is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2004, also at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos, New Mexico, with interment to follow in the Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos.
