John Henry Baker, Jr., 88, a resident of Albuquerque for 16 years, passed away on April 27, 2004. He was born in Darlington, SC on November 20, 1915 to John H. and May Belk Baker. John served his country in the U.S. Army for 30 years, retiring as a Sergeant Major. He was a member of the Lions Club, volunteered in the VA Pharmacy, and served as County Fire Chief in San Juan County, Utah for 15 years. His wife Mary preceded him in death earlier this year. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Raymond and Edward Baker and sisters, Doris Salisbury and Helen Rivers. He is survived by a brother, Charles Baker and wife Stephanie. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in Chapel of Sunrise, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Chaplain Mark Hobbs officiating. Inurnment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be given to Joy Junction, PO Box 27693, Albuquerque, NM 87123.
