Obituary for BACA

Salome (Sam) Baca, 84, died at home in the arms of his faithful and caring companion, Maxine Romero and his special daughter-in-law, Maggie Baca. Salome was born to Felipe and Eloisa Baca in Albuquerque (Martinez Town). Mr. Baca was a veteran of the Marine Corps during World War II. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sofia; a daughter, Jeanette Sanchez; and a son, Jesus Baca. He is survived by five daughters; two sons; 39 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great - great-grandchild; three sisters; and his puppy Juanito, his pride and joy. Special thanks to the staff from Presbyterian Hospice, especially his special friend and nurse, Gail Stubbs; his caregiver, Elvira Perez; special friend, Martita Drezes. A Rosary for Mr. Baca will be recited on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at the San Ignacio Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with full Military Honors. Pallbearers will be Arthur Baca Jr., Michael Baca, Jose Baca, Bobby Baca, Johnny Nuanez, and Diego Rubi. Honorary pallbearers will be Juvencio Toledo and Trappy Rubi.
