Gary. In loving memory of Gary Frank Homola. Gary's journey through eternal existence continued on February 21, 2004 as he passed from this earth at the age of 55. What his mission in this life was has still not been fully revealed to his family. Gary served three tours of duty in Vietnam with the U.S. Army 101st and 82nd airborne divisions. He was awarded the Bronze Star for heroically participating in the protection and evacuation of villagers from Cam Buh which saved their lives.Gary received many other medals and commendations for his heroic conduct under fire in Vietnam. Gary returned to the world to graduate Cum Laude from the University of Albuquerque with a BS in Business Administration and BA in Accounting.Gary was just beginning his professional life when a single car accident rendered him a quadriplegic. For the next 20 years, he lived with dignity and courage, and was most frequently described as a true gentleman.Gary was preceded in death in 1962 by his father, Frank Homola, Jr. Gary is survived by his mother, Blanche Cook, sisters, Sandi Cook and Bonnie Homola, nephews, Frank Watson, Jeff Watson and companion Jamie Pagan, and Steve Hearn and companion Courtney Hersey-Bress, nieces, Kelly La Porte and husband Todd, and Christine Hearn, great-nephew, Justin Watson, great-niece, Paige,Lyndsy,Jennifer,and Grace La Porte. Cremation has taken place and interment will be Monday April 12, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
